Carmen Espinosa, Hope Academy’s 2019 Teacher of the Year, is from Puerto Rico, but has lived in Florida for over 31 years. She has three sons and five grandchildren. Carmen began working in 1995 at Tildenville Elementary School in Wintergarden Florida, as a Bilingual Paraprofessional. During her time there, she became the English Speaker of Other Languages, (ESOL) contact for the school. After 20 years of service, Carmen retired from Tildenville Elementary, and began working as the Assistant Director of the After School Program at Windy Ridge K-8 School in Orlando, Florida. Following her 13-year tenure there as Assistant Director, Carmen decided to transition into the Hope Preparatory Academy family as our Paraprofessional Spanish Coach. It gives her great satisfaction to help the students excel in a different language.
