If you would like to run for SGA you can campaign for the first two weeks of school and get your fellow students to vote for you! Here are the positions you can run for:

SGA President

  • Scheduling general SGA meetings
  • Calling meetings to order
  • Setting the meeting agenda
  • Presiding over the meeting
  • Closing the meeting
  • Serving as a liaison between the SGA and Administration
  • Providing support to other officers

The SGA President is someone who is comfortable speaking to both students and administration. The President is professional, approachable, organized and thoughtful. Additionally, the President helps to make sure that student concerns are heard, and are addressed in a timely fashion.

SGA Vice President

The SGA Vice-President is a support position. The Vice-President steps in whenever the President is unable to attend meetings or SGA functions. The Vice-President’s responsibilities are the same as those of the President, although these responsibilities are taken on in support of the President.

Treasurer

  • Maintain proper records of money received and handled by the Student Government Association officers
  • Will ensure that proper receipting and accounting of all School Government Association funds
  • Comes up with ideas on how to raise money
  • Perform such duties as prescribed by the President

The SGA Treasurer is a student who is not only skilled at math, but a student who is detail oriented, able to meet deadlines and can accurately complete complex paperwork. The treasurer advises on the funding available for the SGA to host activities and events.

Secretary

  • Taking meeting minutes
  • Distributing meeting minutes
  • Typing meeting agendas
  • Distributing meeting agendas
  • Formatting a SGA newsletter
  • Maintaining a calendar of SGA meetings and activities

The SGA Secretary is a student who is organized, possesses excellent written and verbal communication skills, and is capable of collaborating with others. The SGA Secretary is a vital role as it is the Secretary who communicates the activities of the SGA Executive Board to its members, to the general SGA membership, and in some cases, to the student body.

Historian

  • Writes a narrative of activities and events
  • Maintains a scrapbook of documents & memorabilia from events
  • Coordinates activities with yearbook teams
  • Publicizes activities
  • Takes pictures at SGA events

The SGA Historian is responsible for documenting the important events. This may involve taking pictures or taking notes and keeping a journal. Additional duties may include helping maintain and update the SGA webpage.

  • Serve as SGA representative
  • Speak to your class about special activities, goals, and even problems that need to be resolved
  • Serve as a model student and leader for your class
  • Encourage your class to be involved in SGA events and activities

The main responsibility of the Class Officer is to serve as a SGA representative. As a Class Rep, you will work with students to resolve problems and inform school leaders and SGA Officers of ideas emanating from your class.
