Lower Schools

Our lower school program builds a solid foundation of knowledge, skills and understanding based on a Christian worldview. With kind and capable teachers who foster the academic, social, emotional, physical, and spiritual growth of our students.

3rd – 5th grade students experience academic opportunities that develop the whole student.  For the 2023-2024 school year, we are elated to annouce our new addition of grades K-2nd grade, completing our academic ladder to house all grades K-12th!

Teachers provide all students with daily instruction in phonics, reading, writing, spelling, grammar, mathematics, science, social studies, and Bible and use classroom technology to enhance their instruction. Individual and group projects encourage problem solving, critical thinking and a love of learning. Students also participate weekly in art, Spanish, and physical education. After-school athletics and other activities promote teamwork, leadership and sportsmanship.

Annual standardized Terra Nova testing indicates that HPA students are performing well compared to their peers nationally. Teachers use data from this testing and various other assessment sources to guide their instruction and improve student learning.

Our students are part of an academic community with a deep sense of school spirit. School-wide chapels, pep rallies, spirit days, and other activities create an environment in which children feel a strong sense of belonging. Students benefit from the fully developed culture of HPA and the combined expertise of the K – 12th grade faculty.
